Different types of really yummy foods (TRY EM')
FRYBREAD (Makes 4-6) I WOULD WALK MILES FOR IT!
Frybread began due to the fact that Native Women made the
best of what was non-edible food when we
were all forced to live on reservations. They knew they had to feed the people (and
not with rancid beef the government provided). Woman took dough and the tradition of
frying (deer, elk & bear tallow) and put the dough in the oil instead. It worked
- fattening - but we survived and are still here to eat it because of that very
reason...way to go girls... ENJOY!
1 CUP OF FLOUR
1 TSP BAKING POWDER
½ TSP SUGAR OR SALT
½ CUP WATER OR YOU CAN USE MILK
MIX UNTIL BISCUIT FORM AND STICKY,
POWDER HANDS
MAKE SMALL BISCUIT SIZE FLAT PATTIES
& FRY EACH ONE
YOU CAN PUT MORE THAN ONE IN THE PAN
You only need about an inch of oil in a skillet
WHEN BROWNED - PUT HONEY OR BUTTER OR POWDERED SUGAR
